Hi- I'm Sarah.
Pierce County local, small business supporter & owner, and proud member of the LGBTQ+ community.
For years, I’ve made a conscious effort to spend my money in ways that support queer-owned and queer-friendly businesses. Not just during Pride month, but year-round, in real, tangible ways that help our community thrive.
But I kept running into the same problem: there wasn’t a single, easy-to-use place to find a complete, up-to-date list of queer-owned and affirming businesses in Pierce County.
Information was scattered. Lists were outdated. Some businesses were missing entirely. And what I really wanted, a hyper-local, community-focused resource, just didn’t exist.
So I decided to build it.
QueerOwnedWA.com is a growing directory of LGBTQ+ owned, affirming, and community-centered businesses and spaces across Pierce County and Washington State. My goal is simple: make it easier for queer folks, allies, and visitors to shop, eat, connect, and spend intentionally, while helping our local LGBTQ+ community grow stronger and more visible.
This site is built with love, care, and deep respect for the people and businesses who make our community vibrant. It’s not about perfection, it’s about progress, representation, and creating something truly useful.
